How BetFTW measures performance
BetFTW records the result of every pick it publishes. A pick counts once it is settled, at the best odds recorded before the event and at its Kelly-derived stake score. In the 12 months to 30 October 2026, 73,343 picks were settled across football, basketball, tennis and ice hockey.
Definitions
- Published pick
- A selection whose stake score was above 5 when it was first recorded. It stays on its event page and in the record whatever the odds do afterwards.
- Settled pick
- A published pick graded won, lost or void from the final result. Picks on events with no recorded result, for example postponed or cancelled ones, are not settled and are left out.
- Hit rate
- Won picks divided by won plus lost picks. Void picks are not counted.
- Profit
- The sum of settled outcomes in stake-score units. A won pick returns stake × (odds − 1); a lost pick returns −stake; a void pick returns 0.
- Kelly-weighted yield
- Profit divided by the total of the stakes. Because each pick is weighted by its stake score, picks with a larger calculated edge count for more.
- Average odds
- The mean best recorded decimal odds of won and lost picks.
Why the best recorded odds
The best recorded odds are the highest price BetFTW saw for a pick before the event, across the bookmakers it checks. Not every bettor can get that price, so results at lower prices would be lower than the figures shown. BetFTW does not report closing-line value.
